Tourism

Eco-tourism
Lenti microregion, bordering three countries, is rich in areas of outstanding natural beauty, and its architectural heritage also attracts a lot of tourists. We are welcomed by a variable landscape, with its roads meandering the undulating countryside, where green forests, fields in blossom, streams, small lakes in the valleys alternate one another in a gentle, clean environment (ancient beech forest in Vétyem, pasture with trees in Kerkafalva, park in Lenti). The area is rich in game, which provides a great opportunity for hunting-tourism.
Cycle routes of Lenti microregion are meandering for several kilometres on roads of low traffic in the woods, or on public roads. We keep developing marked cycle routes. The area provides numerous forests, fields, and vineyards for hiking.
Mura and Kerka rivers, their backwaters, ponds are a paradise of anglers. These have not been properly equipped for active- and recreation tourism, but offer an excellent potential for future development.

Health Tourism
The Lenti Spa and Saint George Energypark is an outstanding tourist attraction of the region. It provides an ecxellent treatment of skeletal, joint, spinal and circulatory problems. Saint George Energypark is unique in Europe, as you can find a spa and curative earth radiation at the same spot.
Several other settlements apart from Lenti (Szécsisziget, Kerkafalva, Szentgyörgyvölgy etc.) have hidden thermal water springs that are to be utilised for tourist purposes in the future. A new spa has already been established on thermal water in Lovászi.

Catering industry
Guesthouses, apartment houses, pensions and campsites are ready to accommodate visitors in the region. Regarding choice of tourist activities there are still several potentials to be utilised.

Further development potetials are: hiking, tracing cultural heritage, health tourism, herb garden, sports facilities for every age group, relics of oil industry, cultural programmes connected to historic events together with handicraft markets; building and improving accommodations and catering establishments, and building a several-star hotel. The surrounding vineyards are part of the "Balatonmelléke" wine district, the wine produced here widen the Hungarian choice of wine types, and usually get good qualifications at Hungarian and international wine competitions.

Projectinnovations in the Microregion

MURÁNIA Tourism Belt

MURÁNIA Region was created based on an agreement of Lenti and three twin-settlements in summer 2004. MURÁNIA Region is accepted and employed by all the partners while carrying out projects along the border. The four towns are connected by river Mura and its tributaries, Lendva and Kerka that is why the region is called MURÁNIA. MURÁNIA Tourism Belt was formed in 2005 in a successful Interreg tender, with the objective to make joint tourism and marketing strategies, and to launch innovative tourist products ("Harmony of Life", to find new tourist routes, cycling and wine routes).

Our living heritage, Hetés- LEADER+

The objective of LEADER+ is rural development based on local potenials and initiatives. Őrség-Göcsej-Hetés area (existing within the Lenti Microregion), which consists of 29 settlements, has won a tender to realize its local rural development plan.
The programme might help stop losing, ageing of the population in the LEADER+ villages, improve industry, create workplaces and preserve their tradition.
The action committee based in Rédics has developed a programme of four basic steps, which are expected to improve marketability of the region.
