A round trip in Lenti Microregion
The Lenti Microregion is in the south-west of Hungary and Zala county, and
covers a region of 663 km2. It has a connection to three ethnographic regions:
Hetés, Göcsej and Őrség. The microregion consists of 51 settlements with Lenti
as a centre. The microregion has a population of 23 thousand residents which is
divided among the centre, some small villages and some larger villages, which
act as local centres. The region is in a favourable position as it is near
Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, which means a considerable advantage in
developing different branches of economy, in strengthening co-operation in the
fields of agriculture, tourism, industry and commerce. The beautiful natural
surroundings, forests, fields, the undulating landscape is open to everyone and
provides numerous opportunities. The region has a rich fauna and flora. There
are plenty of wild animals in the woods - deer, roe-deer, boar. We are also
proud of the protected plant species of the region, such as snake's head,
snowdrop and spring snowflake, which make Lenti Parkerdő and the region's hiking
routes blossom each spring. In wet meadows hundreds of yellow and Siberian
irises come out in May. Dry grasslands provide a habitat for another protected
plant species, Marsh Gentian, which comes out in summer.
